Well, Motts has gone. Thanks for the memories but to say the last 50 over World Cup was a shambles is an understatement. The T20 wasn’t quite so bad but now the winds of change are sweeping across the nation…who’s next? Here’s out top three to take over the white call sides.

Rahul Dravid: Seemed to be going ok for Rahul and India. We’d be more than happy to get ‘The Wall’ involved with the ECB. Sprinkle some Indian magic on our ageing team. Having just won the T20 World Cup, not a bad time to snag him too. Give the man a blank check.

Gareth Southgate: Very interesting. Just a few weeks between Gareth stepping down and Motts going. Have the ECB got a master plan? To be fair, a great statesman and England’s attacking cricket doesn’t seem to be working so well. Get the brakes on. Everyone on the boundary it’s time for some defensive cricket.

Rishi Sunak: He claims to like and know his cricket. But on second thought, we’ve seen him bat. No chance.

Graham Thorpe has passed away at the tender ages of 55. An icon of the English game who had 100 Test and 82 ODI appearances to his name for his country and who spent his entire first-class playing career at Surrey CCC. More importantly, a player who provided why left-handed batsmen are more stylish than right-handers. Rest in peace, Graham.
