India FINALLY get it done

Well, they did it. The star-studded Indian lineup finally got that trophy they (probably) deserved. It didn’t come without its sketchy moments. But in the end, the old dog Virat guided them through. The unplayable Bumrah, the illustrious Skye, and the rest of this superhero outfit finally decided enough was enough, and this one was theirs. They even played it at 10:30 am so it was on in Indian prime time….funny that. But let's be honest, this side deserved it. Congrats team India, enjoy it.

“Cricket is the only source of happiness back home” — Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan told reporters after their victory over Australia. Despite being rolled for 56 against South Africa, Afghanistan has been a fan favourite, providing memorable moments. Amid floods and unrest, the team's success offers hope. It would be impossible to outline just how much this would have meant to the Afghan people in less than 200 words. But, read about it, look at the photos. This is the power of cricket.

It’s a waste of my time

The moment of the World Cup HAS to be Gulbadin Naib going down like he’d pulled a hammy or been shot after Jonathan Trott seemed to signal it was time to settle down. Easy mistake to make, I guess? The full-scale sprint across the pitch at victory didn't help, mind. But it got us thinking, who doesn’t love a bit of shithousery (if it’s your team, of course). From Monty Panesar asking to change his gloves three times in an over while saving a test in the 2009 Ashes to shoelace tying that takes up to a week, it’s a dying art. We love a little bit of bastardry.
