Take a look at the record-breaking England scoresheet...

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

I remember the first time Rooty scored a test match ton. It sounds like boos, but it’s all love. Joe Root, the quiet assassin, has become England’s top Test run-scorer—12,472 runs of pure grit and elegance. No fanfare, no parade, just Root with that grin, gliding past records like it’s nothing. For England, Root’s not just a player; he’s a symbol. Runs, runs, and more runs. Mr. Reliable himself. From Melbourne to Mumbai, Lancaster to Leeds—he’s done it everywhere. Even the streets of London. You run out of adjectives to shower the man with, so I’ll stop. England’s greatest batsman. Enough said.

Turf Technology Could Be The Future

Few patches of grass are more famous than the Lord's wicket, and it's getting a facelift. At the legendary Home of Cricket, Fineturf is shaking up the tradition with a pioneering process for Head Groundsman Karl McDermott: Steam Surface Sterilisation. Borrowed from farming, this chemical-free method eliminates pests, pathogens, and diseases, ensuring the pitch stays in perfect condition. No harsh treatments, just pure steam to promote plant health and sustainability. It’s a smart, eco-friendly way to protect the square, preserving the ground and the game for future generations. But you can’t help wonder what the MCC members will make of all this? Woke tosh, I imagine. You can’t teach old dogs new tricks.

Is IPL’s 2-Year Ban What Cricket Needs?

You’ve got to hand it to the IPL and BCCI. They know their worth.

Put yourself up for auction but then pull out when a franchise buys you? Banned…for two years.

With more formats and franchises springing up all over the world, and players being but in situations where they need to choose between a lucrative contract or team loyalty, maybe the way forward is for clubs and countries to take control by making the decision for them? Obviously injuries and extenuating circumstances aside, but this could avoid the yoyo-ing of players leaving team camps prematurely and leaving fans questioning who they’ll be watching out in the middle.
