RCB & Kohli Bag Their Maiden IPL

Along with his swarms of Test matches, ODIs, and international T20 accolades, Virat Kohli finally gets to lift the second richest prize in world sport — only behind the Super Bowl. The IPL and its $9.5 billion revenue are just another one for Virat’s cabinet. At this point, it's legacy farming. It seems right that India’s chosen son wins the trophy synonymous around the world with India’s obsession with cricket. It fits. We like it. In true Kohli fashion, he ended the season as RCB’s top run-scorer. Far from being carried by his team, old man Virat was once again centre stage, main character. “This victory belongs just as much to the fans as it does to the team. It’s been 18 long years,” said Kohli, who has been a part of Bengaluru’s journey since the very first IPL season in 2008. It’s time to start designing the statue.

Shubman’s Turn At The Helm

Credit: Getty Images
Following an exodus of legends, it’s a bold move picking Shub. Signifying a new chapter inside what is now unofficially the home of cricket. So, what can we expect from India’s next chosen son? Well, we don’t think he’s going to give it quite as large as Virat. Although we could well be wrong. Maybe he’s going to give it larger? There could be more shushing, more sledging, more cameras trained on his every move. India still has an immense appetite for the long-format and has yet to win the World Test Championship. You would imagine that nothing but complete dominance is going to satisfy the hungry South Asian diaspora. India’s international team is their pièce de résistance — their crowning glory on the world stage. A personification of India’s growing political significance. He’s not only becoming skipper, but a statesman. So, best of luck, Shubman! Should be easy, right?
Nike Make History With Indian Artist Collab

Credit: Nike
Nike have just made history by teaming up with an Indian fashion label - NorBlack NorWhite - for a capsule collection that promotes India’s culture and craftsmanship. Applying the look of bandhani, a traditional Indian tie-dye technique, the collection features sport-forward silhouettes designed to promote freedom of movement and expression for women, with stunning campaign visuals featuring female Indian sport stars including cricketers Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues. You can see and learn more about the collection here. Unfortunately those cricket pads won’t be part of the release…
